12 Teams In Contest For Bayelsa State FA Cup Glory

TWELVE TEAMS TO FIGHT FOR HONOUR AS BAYELSA STATE AITEO CUP KICKS OFF ON SUNDAY. By Hananeel Jackson Defending Champions Bayelsa United and last year finalist GeorgeTurnah FC of Kolo has been drawn bye in the 2019 Bayelsa State Aiteo Cup draws that was held on Tuesday at the Ministry of Sports Development Conference hall Yenagoa. Twelve teams will battle for who will represent Bayelsa State in the national level of the Aiteo Cup with six new registered teams. The first match of the annual tourney which kicks off 1pm at the Opolo Secondary school Field on Sunday which will see Bush Buck Fc up against Abaye Fc while newcomers Shepherd Fc will locks with Ororo Fc all in the group A. In group B Kolga Buffalo's from Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government will battle Delight FC on Monday by 1pm at the Opolo Secondary school Pitch which will be followed by the fixture between Bayelsa United Feeders and Gillet FC. Speaking at the draws ceremony Commissioner for Sports Development Mr Perekiye Buruboyefe represented by the Permeant Secretary Ministry of Sports Mrs Grace Alagoa charged the twelve participating teams to embrace the spirit Sportsmanship. Presiding over the draws Chairman of the Bayelsa Football Association Mr Poubeni Ogu represented by his Vice Chairman Mr Laye who highlighted the achievements of State Football Association said the association has recorded a massive improvement in the last four years as a result of accountability, Stressing that the Association has been able to host the State League annually and a befitting FA Office in Yenagoa. On his Part Chairman of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Bayelsa State Chapter Mr Alambo Datonye said the association will continue to give massive publicity to all all sports related events in the state,Adding that grassroot sports is the way to the future. The final of the male and Female Aiteo Cup will hold of the 28 of April 2019 at the Samson Siasia Stadium.
