2025 Women’s Afrobasket: Nigeria Is A Great Team – Cameroon Forward Admits

Cameroon forward Joelly Belleka has praised Nigeria’s D’Tigress following their heavy defeat in the quarterfinals of the 2025 Women’s AfroBasket Championship, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Speaking after the 83-47 loss, Belleka acknowledged the quality of the Nigerian team, describing them as one of the best on the continent.

“Nigeria is a great team. They have four or five Olympians, and they play smart basketball. It was tough,” Belleka told FIBA.basketball.

Expressing her disappointment, she added: “I’m upset because we wanted to make history for Cameroon basketball. It’s okay, though. Maybe it’s not our turn, but we’ll keep working for future AfroBaskets and come back stronger.”

Nigeria’s D’Tigress will face 11-time champions Senegal in the semifinals on Saturday, August 2.
