Sampson Adedeji
As preparations hit top gear for the crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Nigeria, South Africa’s head coach, Hugo Broos, has made a late adjustment to his squad, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The Belgian tactician had earlier unveiled his final 23-man list but has now opted to strengthen his defensive options.
On Monday, Broos handed a call-up to Stellenbosch FC’s reliable defender Thabo Moloisane, bringing fresh reinforcement to the Bafana Bafana backline.
The decision comes as South Africa braces for a double-header that could prove decisive in their qualification journey.
While they face Lesotho first, the much-anticipated clash against perennial rivals Nigeria looms large, with both teams eager to secure maximum points.
Moloisane’s inclusion is expected to provide more depth and balance to the defence, as Broos looks to blend experience with youthful energy in the squad.
Bafana Bafana will be banking on a solid rearguard and clinical finishing upfront as they aim to improve their standing in the qualifiers and boost their chances of returning to the World Cup stage.
