Sampson Adedeji
As the next round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers draws closer, South Africa’s clash with Nigeria’s Super Eagles is likely to take place at a different venue from the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Before meeting Nigeria, Bafana Bafana are scheduled to face Lesotho, who had adopted the Toyota Stadium as their temporary home ground.
However, a new twist has emerged. According to journalist Velile Mnyandu, the Lesotho Football Association confirmed that FIFA has instructed them to switch venues for their qualifier against South Africa.
Following a recent CAF inspection, concerns were raised over the pitch quality at the Toyota Stadium.
As a result, the fixture may now be moved to the Dr. Petrus Molemela Stadium in Bloemfontein.
