As tension continues to rise in the camp of the Black Queens ahead of their crucial second-leg encounter against Egypt, Ghana’s Minister of Sports and Recreation has intervened, holding a meeting with the players over their unresolved financial issues, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

According to reports, the minister met with the team to address concerns surrounding unpaid allowances and bonuses but failed to give a definite timeline on when the monies would be paid. In a rather surprising statement, the minister reportedly told the players they could choose to boycott the match if they wished, a remark that has stirred mixed reactions within the football community.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) President has appealed to the players to honour the fixture, assuring them that efforts are being made to resolve the financial challenges.

Despite the plea, sources close to the team indicate that the players remain firm in their position, insisting that their grievances must be addressed before they take to the pitch.

The Black Queens are scheduled to face Egypt tomorrow in Accra in the decisive return leg of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers.
