Former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Greg Etafia, has expressed confidence that Nigeria can secure maximum points against South Africa when both sides clash in Bloemfontein, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Etafia stressed the importance of winning every remaining qualifier to guarantee the Super Eagles’ place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

“We must win all our games. But what they really need is for South Africa to lose those three points,” Etafia told IdiskiTimes.

“The team is fighting for those points on behalf of everyone back home, the supporters and the country. Those three points will be vital. Nigeria believes they can win the rest of their matches, including against South Africa. And if South Africa gets docked points, that gives us an even greater chance.”

Now a goalkeeper coach with TS Galaxy in the South African Premier League, Etafia added that qualifying for the tournament in the USA, Canada, and Mexico is non-negotiable for Nigeria.

According to him, this could be the last opportunity for several members of the current Super Eagles squad to feature at a World Cup, making qualification even more crucial.
