The Guinean Football Federation has officially requested that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) move its 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against South Africa to a neutral venue over security concerns, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
According to reports, Guinea cited the ongoing anti-migrant protests in South Africa as the reason for the request, expressing concerns over the safety of its players, officials and supporters should the match be played in the country.
The federation has formally submitted its request to CAF and is awaiting a decision from the continental football governing body.
The 2027 AFCON qualifying fixture is expected to be one of the key matches in the qualification campaign, with both nations aiming to secure a place at the tournament.
CAF has yet to issue an official response regarding Guinea's request or confirm whether the match will remain in South Africa or be relocated to a neutral venue.
