AFCON 2025: Super Eagles, Egypt Must Wait Until Sunday For Bronze Medals — CAF Insists

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed that the winner of the third-place match at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations will not receive their bronze medals immediately after the game, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Nigeria’s Super Eagles will take on the Pharaohs of Egypt in the third-place playoff on Saturday in Casablanca, following both teams’ semi-final defeats.
Despite reported dissatisfaction from both Nigeria and Egypt over the arrangement, CAF has insisted that the presentation of bronze medals will only take place after the final on Sunday.
According to CAF, the team that secures third place will be required to travel to Rabat, where the official medal presentation ceremony will be held alongside other closing events of the tournament.
The decision means that whichever side emerges victorious in Saturday’s encounter will have to wait an extra day before being formally recognised for finishing third at the Morocco 2025 AFCON.
