AFCON 2025: Super Eagles’ Group Opponent Set To Lose Coach

With less than two months to the start of the 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco, all appears unsettled in the camp of Uganda as head coach Paul Put is reportedly on his way out, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Since taking charge of the Cranes, Put has overseen notable progress, guiding the team to within touching distance of the 2026 FIFA World Cup playoffs.

His tactical discipline and experience have earned him praise both within Uganda and across the continent.

However, reports from Kampala indicate that his contract with the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) expires in November, and discussions for a renewal are yet to begin.

To make matters more complicated, FECAFOOT, the Cameroonian Football Federation, is said to have opened talks with the former Burkina Faso and Kenya manager regarding their national team job.

Uganda have been drawn in Group C of AFCON 2025 alongside Nigeria, Tanzania, and Tunisia, and uncertainty over Put’s future could prove disruptive as preparations intensify for the continental showpiece.
