With just a few weeks to the kickoff of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, the head coach of the Cranes of Uganda, Paul Put, has declared that his team is not intimidated by the star-studded Super Eagles of Nigeria, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Uganda has been drawn alongside Nigeria in Group C of the continental showpiece, setting the stage for a potentially thrilling encounter between the two sides.
Speaking ahead of the tournament, the Belgian tactician acknowledged the quality and pedigree of the Nigerian squad but maintained that the Cranes will approach the game with confidence and respect.
“They (Super Eagles) are a perennial powerhouse. There are threats everywhere in their squad with top talent and European experience,” Put told CAFonline.
“We will respect all of them, but we are not intimidated. We will give a good account of ourselves.”
The Ugandan coach further expressed optimism about his team’s preparation, adding that their focus is on teamwork and discipline as they aim to make a strong impression at the tournament.
Nigeria and Uganda are set to lock horns in what promises to be one of the standout fixtures of the AFCON group stage.
