Kenya's preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers have been thrown into uncertainty following reports of unpaid camp allowances owed to the Harambee Stars, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

According to reports, the players have not received their camp allowances, estimated at around $2,000 per player, for the last four national team gatherings.

The financial dispute has reportedly created growing tension within the squad, with several key players threatening to boycott the AFCON qualifying matches scheduled for September unless the outstanding payments are settled.

The situation has also left head coach Benni McCarthy frustrated as he prepares the team for the crucial qualifiers.

Meanwhile, the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President, Hussein Mohammed, is expected to face intense scrutiny and questions over the handling of the unpaid allowances.

With the qualifiers fast approaching, the escalating dispute poses a significant challenge for Kenya as the Harambee Stars seek to secure a place at the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
