AFCON Update: Chelle to Retain Core of Current Super Eagles Squad

Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, is expected to maintain the core of his current squad ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, according to updates from the team’s camp, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Despite widespread calls from fans and stakeholders for major changes to the team, Chelle appears set to stick with familiar faces as preparations intensify for the continental tournament.

Speaking on the situation, one of the Super Eagles’ coaches explained that the limited time before the competition makes it difficult to implement wholesale changes to the squad.

 “We will try to do our best [at the AFCON]… It is important to keep a group of players that you know,” the coach told Osasuo Obayiuwana.

The decision signals a preference for stability and team chemistry as Nigeria targets a strong campaign in Morocco.
