AFCON Update: You Won’t Be Comfortable Playing Against Us – Uganda Striker Warns Eagles

Uganda Cranes striker Melvyn Lorenzen has issued a strong warning to Nigeria’s Super Eagles and other Group C opponents ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, insisting that no team will find it easy playing against Uganda, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Uganda, who have recorded a decent run in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, are drawn in Group C alongside Nigeria, Tunisia, and Tanzania, setting up what promises to be a highly competitive group.

Speaking with confidence about the Cranes’ readiness, Lorenzen stressed that Uganda have consistently held their own against top African sides.

 “Even against the big nations, it’s always a good result,” he said.

 “We’ve never gone under; the team has always shown itself in a good light.

“So, I think any team that comes won’t be comfortable playing us. It’s time to prove that again.”

 The Cranes’ qualification for the Morocco tournament marks their eighth appearance at the Africa Cup of Nations and their first since 2019.

Uganda’s best outing at the continental showpiece came in 1978, when they reached the final but narrowly lost to Ghana.

With renewed belief and growing confidence within the squad, Uganda aims to make a strong impression in Morocco as they prepare to challenge established heavyweights, including Nigeria's Super Eagles.
