Abia Govt To Upgrade Umuahia Township Stadium

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti has announced plans to upgrade the Umuahia Township Stadium for Abia Warriors Football Club and other teams as a short-term solution, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Otti reaffirmed his commitment to sports development during a meeting with the NFF delegation led by President Ibrahim Gusau.

The Umuahia Township Stadium plays host to Abia Warriors, who are set to represent the country in the CAF Confederation Cup for the 2025/26 season.

According to Otti, "We'll upgrade it to a standard township stadium while planning a long-term solution with the Abia Stadium City, which will feature an entertainment village, plazas, a conference centre, and residential apartments."

The Umu Chineke Boys under the tutelage of Imama Amapakabo are currently on close camping in preparations for the upcoming season.
