Abia State To Host African Para-Badminton Championship

Umuahia, the capital of Abia State, will welcome 224 players from 20 African and non-African nations for two major para-badminton tournaments scheduled between September 30 and October 12, 2025, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The events include the First Abia Para-Badminton International Championships (September 30–October 5) and the All-Africa Para-Badminton Championships (October 6–12), both to be held at the Badminton Court of the International Conference Centre (ICC), Umuahia.

India and Nigeria top the list of participating nations, fielding 58 and 54 players respectively.

The competitions are jointly organised by the Badminton Federation of Nigeria (BFN) and the Abia State Badminton Association (ASBA), in partnership with the Abia State Government and its Ministry of Sports.
