Akor Adams Strikes Twice Off Bench To End Sevilla Losing Run

Super Eagles striker Akor Adams marked his return from the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in style, coming off the bench to score twice as Sevilla fought back to earn a 2–2 draw against Elche on Monday, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Nigerian international netted both goals for Sevilla, bringing an end to the club’s four-match losing run across all competitions.

Elche, who have managed just two wins in their last 13 league fixtures, took the lead inside the opening 15 minutes. Martim Neto released Aleix Febas into space at the edge of the penalty area, and the midfielder capitalised by firing past Sevilla goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos, who was caught slightly out of position.

The hosts doubled their advantage 10 minutes after the restart through Germán Valera, putting Sevilla under further pressure.

Adams, fresh from an impressive AFCON campaign with Nigeria in Morocco, was introduced at the start of the second half and made an immediate impact. He pulled one back for Sevilla, registering the club’s first competitive goal in five matches.

Deep into stoppage time, Adams completed his brace from the penalty spot after referee Ricardo de Burgos awarded a spot-kick for a handball in the Elche area, securing a share of the points at 2–2.

Fellow Nigeria international Chidera Ejuke, who also featured at AFCON, was introduced in the 65th minute as Sevilla halted a run of defeats that had stretched back to December 17, just two days after both players departed for international duty.

Adams, 25, featured in all seven of Nigeria’s matches at AFCON 2025, finishing the tournament with two goals and two assists as the Super Eagles claimed the bronze medal.

Sevilla head coach Matías Almeyda had confirmed ahead of the fixture that Adams and Ejuke would be available for selection, with both players returning to Spain on Sunday following the conclusion of their AFCON commitments.
