By Admin
The Franco-Comorian coach Amir Abdou arrived in Ouagadougou overnight, just days after his appointment as head coach of Burkina Faso’s national team, the Stallions, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Upon landing, he was welcomed by a delegation from the Burkina Faso Football Federation (FBF), officially marking the beginning of his tenure.
This Tuesday, March 3, 2026, the new head coach is scheduled to meet with the FBF president, Oumarou Sawadogo. The protocol meeting will be followed by the finalization and signing of his contract, an administrative step that will conclude a particularly rigorous recruitment process.
The Federation had launched a call for applications that attracted 82 candidates. After a thorough selection process, Amir Abdou emerged as the near-unanimous choice, reflecting the strong confidence placed in his profile and experience.
He succeeds Brama Traoré, who was dismissed following the Stallions’ elimination in the Round of 16 of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations against the Ivory Coast national team.
Amir Abdou’s mission will be to restore stability and consistency to a talented Burkina Faso side that has struggled with regularity in recent years. After a 2025 AFCON campaign widely regarded as disappointing by many observers, expectations are high. Discipline, organization, and ambition: the coming months will reveal the impact of the new head coach and the scope of the Federation’s announced project.
