Amusan Opens Up On Race Approach, Shifts Focus To Prefontaine Classic

Nigeria's sprint hurdler Tobi Amusan has revealed the mindset that drives her performances on the track as she turns her attention to the upcoming Prefontaine Classic, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Speaking after her latest outing, Amusan admitted she was not a fan of the warm conditions but remained determined to deliver a strong performance.

"I do not like the warm weather at all, but whatever the weather, I was going to come out here and kill it. My execution was alright. I am just happy to be injury free," she told the Diamond League website.

The former world champion also explained that she does not allow the weight of expectations to affect her performances.

"The pressure does not get to me. I have grace, a very strong support system around me, and that finish line. So I am never worried about pressure on the night," she said.

Amusan further disclosed that her approach to hurdling differs from race to race, depending on circumstances.

"My approach to the hurdles varies. Sometimes you are thinking about what has just happened. Other days, it is really sloppy and I still come out and run a fast time. I try to take a shot at every race," she added.

Looking ahead, the Nigerian star confirmed that her next appearance will be at the Prefontaine Classic, although she is yet to finalise her competition schedule beyond the Diamond League meeting.

"I'll be competing at the Prefontaine Classic next, but I am yet to decide where to race after that," Amusan stated.
