Amy Okonkwo Makes History, Reaches 100 Career WNBA Points

Nigeria’s D’Tigress captain and Portland Fire forward Amy Okonkwo has reached a major milestone in her Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) career after surpassing 100 career points, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Portland Fire celebrated the achievement on Sunday, August 30, 2026, after Okonkwo reached the landmark during the Fire’s WNBA game against the Golden State Valkyries. The franchise confirmed the milestone on its social media platforms.

The achievement marks another significant chapter in the remarkable career of the Nigerian international, who has had to fight her way into the WNBA after establishing herself as one of Africa’s leading basketball players.

Okonkwo, was born on August 26, 1996, in California, United States, and stands at 6-foot-2 (1.88m). 

She played college basketball at USC before transferring to TCU, where she became one of the Horned Frogs’ leading players.

She finished her TCU career with 1,324 points, 606 rebounds and 477 made field goals. 

Her 13.11 points-per-game scoring average ranks sixth in school history, while her 85.0 percent free-throw percentage ranks second in the programme’s history.

Despite her impressive college career, Okonkwo went undrafted in the WNBA and began her professional career in Europe.

She played in Spain with CD Zamarat and Innova-TSN Leganés before moving to France, Israel, Mexico and later Landerneau and Tango Bourges Basket.

 Her performances in Europe helped establish her as a prolific scorer and versatile forward.
