Bassey Joins Bichi First FC, Targets New Era of Growth

Bichi First Football Club of Kano have appointed experienced Nigerian tactician Patrick Bassey as their new Technical Adviser, as the club intensifies efforts to build a competitive team capable of making a significant impact in Nigerian football.

Bassey brings considerable experience from various levels of the domestic game, with a coaching profile shaped by tactical discipline, player development and youth football. His arrival is expected to add technical depth to a Bichi First FC project that is steadily gaining recognition as one of the emerging football outfits in Kano.

The coach has held several assignments within Nigeria’s football development structure, working with teams at both youth and senior levels. His previous engagements include coaching roles with Prison Football Club and Hybrid Football Academy, as well as responsibilities within the country’s youth development system.

Ahead of the 2025/26 Nigeria National League (NNL) season, Bassey was appointed Head Coach of Ranchers Bees FC, where he was charged with helping the Kaduna-based side achieve its promotion ambitions. He, however, later resigned from the position for personal reasons.

He subsequently joined Yobe Desert Stars FC as Technical Adviser for the second stanza of the 2025/26 NNL season, bringing his technical expertise to the club as it sought to strengthen its campaign.

His appointment at Bichi First FC marks another chapter in his coaching career and gives the Kano-based club access to a tactician with experience in talent development, tactical organisation and domestic football management.

Bichi First FC have emerged as one of the promising football projects in Kano, with an emphasis on nurturing young talents and building a competitive side. The club’s recent performances have further highlighted its ambition to establish itself as a formidable force within the state and beyond.

Bassey’s arrival is therefore expected to provide the technical leadership needed to translate that ambition into sustained progress while strengthening the pathway for promising young players to develop and advance their careers.

With an experienced tactician now at the helm of its technical affairs, Bichi First FC will be hoping the appointment ushers in a new era of growth, competitiveness and success.
