Fulham FC defender Calvin Bassey is reportedly making efforts to convince highly-rated youngster Rio Ngumoha to represent Nigeria at international level, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Ngumoha, who currently plays for Liverpool FC, was born in England to Nigerian parents, making him eligible to feature for both countries.
The talented youngster caught attention on Saturday when he scored the opening goal in Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over Fulham, further underlining his growing reputation as one of the brightest prospects in the club’s ranks.
Bassey, who also faced a similar international decision before committing to Nigeria, is believed to be encouraging Ngumoha to follow in his footsteps by choosing the Super Eagles.
The Fulham defender switched allegiance to Nigeria despite representing England at youth level, and has since become a key figure in the Super Eagles setup.
With Nigeria continuing to scout dual-nationality players, Ngumoha’s situation is expected to attract significant attention in the coming months as the battle for his international future intensifies.
