Reigning Nigeria Women Football League, NWFL, champions, Bayelsa Queens have concluded their tour of friendly matches ahead of the WAFU Zone B qualifiers, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The Prosperity Girls secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over fellow NWFL Premiership side FC Robo Queens in a friendly match at the Maracana Stadium in Ajegunle, Lagos State.
This win was an important part of the Prosperity Girls' preparations for the upcoming 2025 WAFU Zone-B qualifiers for the CAF Women’s Champions League later in the year.
Technical Adviser Bayelsa Queens, Whyte Ogbonda said his team has done well.
"Generally, the team has done well, we’ve played six matches, won five and drawn one, and this is good preparation for Bayelsa Queens.
“So far we have seen some grey areas and when we get to Yenagoa, we will do some corrections and the team will be ready to face the rest of the countries in the WAFU Zone B competition, and I am very impressed with the performance of the girls in this playing tour we embarked on," Ogbonda added.
Bayelsa Queens played 6 matches, won 5 and drew 1, scored a total of 17 goals and conceded 4 during the tour.
