Ben Akwuegbu FC Battle Back to Hold Nasarawa United in Gusau/Alhan Cup Showdown

Ben Akwuegbu FC earned a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Nasarawa United in their final Group A encounter at the Gusau/Alhan Preseason Tournament, held in Lafia, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Nasarawa United had taken the lead earlier in the match with a 33 minute strike by Collins Onovuje. Daniel Adoga equalized in the 45th minute for Akwuegbu FC.

 But a determined second-half performance saw Ben Akwuegbu FC claw their way back to share the spoils in one of the standout fixtures of Matchday 7.

Elsewhere in the day’s action, City Rollers edged past Caliphate FC of Sokoto with a narrow 1-0 win, while Wikki Tourists, recently promoted to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), defeated Si14 FC 3-2 in a thrilling five-goal contest.

Lobi Stars also continued their solid form, securing a 1-0 victory over Niger Tornadoes in a closely contested encounter.

With the group stage nearing its conclusion, Nasarawa United maintained their grip on top spot in Group A with seven points, followed closely by Wikki Tourists on six points. Ben Akwuegbu FC, with one win, one draw, and one loss, sit third on the table with four points from three matches.

The Gusau/Alhan Preseason Tournament has served as a valuable platform for clubs to test their squads ahead of the upcoming domestic season, offering fans a glimpse of what to expect in 2025/26.
