Benin Republic clinched the 2025 WAFU B U-15 School Championship title after edging Niger Republic 5–4 on penalties in a tense final in Ouagadougou, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The Beninese side took the lead in the first half, but Niger Republic fought back to level the score, sending the match into a penalty shootout after a 1–1 draw in regulation time. Benin held their nerve from the spot to secure the regional crown despite their only defeat in the tournament coming against Nigeria in the group stage.
Nigeria, who failed to reach the semifinals following a 1–4 loss to Côte d'Ivoire, were the only team to beat the new champions.
In the third-place match, hosts Burkina Faso defeated Côte d'Ivoire to claim the bronze medal.
Meanwhile, in the girls’ category, Burkina Faso emerged champions after a narrow 1–0 victory over Ghana.
All participating teams are scheduled to depart Ouagadougou on Friday for their respective destinations.
