Brentford F.C. Director of Football Phil Giles has explained why the club allowed Frank Onyeka to complete a permanent move to newly promoted Coventry City F.C. ahead of the 2026/27 season, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The Super Eagles midfielder spent last season on loan at Coventry City, where he played a key role in the club's successful promotion campaign to the Premier League.
Following his impressive performances, the move was made permanent.
Speaking on Onyeka's departure, Giles praised the Nigerian international for his professionalism and commitment throughout his time at Brentford.
"Frank has been with us since our first Premier League game and has always shown fantastic commitment, work rate and loyalty during his time here," Giles said.
"Ultimately, he probably didn't start as many games as he would have liked, so the opportunity to move to Coventry City made sense for all parties.
"He made a big contribution to their promotion and has earned his chance to become a regular Premier League starter with them.
"Frank will always be welcome back at Brentford, and we wish him well for next season with Coventry."
