CAF, WAFU B Drive Women’s Football Development Through Capacity-Building Workshop

The three-day CAF–WAFU B Women’s Football Administrators Workshop has concluded in Abuja, with participants commending its depth, relevance, and potential to advance the women’s game across West Africa, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Organised by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) in collaboration with the West African Football Union Zone B (WAFU B), the programme brought together key stakeholders to explore strategies for strengthening women’s football development in the region.

Speaking on behalf of participants, Aisha Falode described the workshop as both insightful and impactful, noting that it introduced practical approaches and innovative ideas to enhance the growth of the women’s game. She also praised WAFU B’s rising influence, characterising the body as a driving force in women’s football development on the continent.

Representing the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Deputy General Secretary Emmanuel Ikpeme expressed confidence that participants would return to their respective countries better equipped to implement meaningful progress. He stood in for NFF President Ibrahim Gusau and General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi, who are currently attending the FIFA Congress in Canada.

WAFU B Executive Director Philippe Tchere lauded the NFF for successfully hosting the workshop and acknowledged CAF, facilitators, and other stakeholders for their contributions to the initiative.

The workshop featured sessions facilitated by experienced professionals, including former Nigeria international Precious Dede, now WAFU B Football Development Manager. She was joined by CAF instructors Jules McGeever and Thuba Sibanda.

Other notable attendees included CAF Head of Women’s Football Goshime Meskerem, President of the WAFU B Women’s Football Commission Amina Amani, NFF Director of Communications Ademola Olajire, NFF Director of Competitions Ruth David, CAF Football Development Officer Yousra Oukhouya, and members of the WAFU B secretariat.
