CAF, WAFU-B Partner NFF For Women’s Football Workshop In Abuja

The Nigeria Football Federation will host a three-day Women’s Football Administrators Workshop in Abuja later this week, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the development of the women’s game across West Africa, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The programme, organised by the West African Football Union Zone B in collaboration with the Confederation of African Football, is scheduled to take place from April 26 to 28 at the Exclusive Serene Hotel and Suites in Wuye, Abuja.

The workshop will bring together chairpersons of Women’s Football Commissions and heads of women’s football departments from the seven WAFU-B member nations: Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Niger Republic, Togo, and Benin Republic.

President of the NFF and WAFU-B, Ibrahim Musa Gusau, is expected to declare the workshop open. Other key figures billed to attend include WAFU-B Executive Director Philippe Tchere, CAF Head of Women’s Football Meskerem Goshime, WAFU-B Women’s Football Commission President Amina Amani, and Women’s Football Development Manager Precious Dede.

Former Nigeria international Dede will also serve as one of the facilitators, alongside Meskerem and CAF instructors Jules McGeever and Thuba Sibanda.

The workshop will feature a series of presentations and interactive sessions over three days. Day One will focus on key themes such as the growth and evolution of women’s football in Africa, a global overview of the women’s game, regional challenges and achievements, and leadership development.

Day Two will explore strategic approaches to advancing women’s football, including lessons from the Ghana Football Association, case studies of successful clubs such as Mamelodi Sundowns Women and ASEC Mimosas Women, as well as branding and development frameworks.

The final day will centre on strategic planning, with sessions designed to translate discussions into actionable outcomes, focusing on future goals, implementation strategies, and consolidating key findings.

The workshop underscores growing efforts by regional and continental football bodies to accelerate the development and professionalisation of women’s football across Africa.
