CAF Champions League: Rivers United To Know Opponent This Week

Nigeria’s CAF Champions League representative, Rivers United, will know their opponent before the end of this week, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

According to the draw conducted by CAF, Rivers United has been paired against a yet-to-be-determined club from the Democratic Republic of Congo.

However, league football in DR Congo has been in crisis in recent weeks, with no clear or generally accepted winner emerging.

In response, the Federation of Congo Football Association (FECOFA) has scheduled an emergency meeting tomorrow to resolve the issue of club representation in continental competitions.

CAF has reportedly given FECOFA a 72-hour deadline to reach a consensus with all stakeholders and submit the list of clubs that will participate in African competitions this season.
