CAF Champions League: Rivers United’s Preliminary Round Opponent Revealed

Nigeria’s Rivers United now know their opponents for the CAF Champions League preliminary round, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

After weeks of debate in DR Congo over which club would represent the country in Africa’s top club competition, the impasse was finally resolved on Saturday.

CAF confirmed that Rivers United will square off against FC Les Aigles du Congo, while Sudan’s Al Merrikh will take on FC St Éloi Lupopo in the other tie.

It remains to be seen whether the Nigerian side will play their first leg this coming weekend, as Al Merrikh have reportedly requested a postponement.
