CAF Champions League: We Wanted To Score More Against Remo Stars– Sundowns Coach
Sampson Adedeji
Mamelodi Sundowns head coach, Miguel Cardoso, has admitted that his side aimed to score more goals against Remo Stars but eased off the pressure as the game progressed, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The South African champions sealed a 2-0 victory over the Nigerian Premier League holders, advancing to the group stage of the CAF Champions League with a commanding 7-1 aggregate win.
“We took this challenge very seriously and focused on getting the win against Remo Stars,” Cardoso told The South African.
“You just have to look at the line-up we picked.”
“When the aggregate is 7-1, it’s normal that the intensity drops a bit especially in that heat. Of course, I wanted us to score even more. We needed more numbers in the box, particularly in the last 20 minutes,” he added.
The Portuguese tactician further explained that some players managed their energy levels towards the end of the game to avoid fatigue and possible injuries.
