CAF Executive Committee Meeting Under Threat As Members Mull Boycott

With the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Executive Committee meeting scheduled for Friday in Dar es Salaam, uncertainty is already surrounding the gathering amid rising internal tensions, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Reports indicate that several members of the CAF Executive Committee are considering not travelling to Tanzania, following concerns that some invited officials have yet to receive a detailed agenda for the meeting. 

The lack of formal communication over what is expected to be a crucial sitting for the future of African football has reportedly triggered unease within the body.

Sources suggest the delay in circulating the agenda may be linked to internal strategic considerations and an attempt to prevent potential information leaks. 

However, the situation has only deepened concerns about governance processes and transparency within the organization.

That meeting was reportedly marred by a heated exchange later denied between Moroccan FA president Fouzi Lekjaa and Nigeria FA president Ibrahim Musa Gusau.

While the proposed boycott remains unconfirmed, the signals emerging from within CAF reflect significant strain at a sensitive moment for the continental body.

Friday’s meeting is expected to address several key issues, including regulatory reforms following Senegal’s disqualification from hosting the Africa Cup of Nations final, as well as the status of CAF Secretary General Véron Mosengo-Omba, who is said to have exceeded the statutory age limit for office.

In that context, the potential absence of influential Executive Committee members if it materialises could further raise questions about CAF’s internal cohesion and stability.
