CAF Faces Another Controversy as Champions League Semi-Final Looms

Al Hilal are threatening to take legal action at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) following a controversial decision involving RS Berkane’s place in the CAF Champions League semi-finals, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The controversy centers on Berkane captain Hamza El Moussaoui, who tested positive for the banned substance Prednisone in January. 

CAF initially suspended El Moussaoui for 30 days on March 11 just two days before the first leg of the quarter-final but lifted the suspension on match day.

El Moussaoui went on to play a pivotal role in the quarter-final, winning the penalty that allowed Berkane to secure an equalizer.

The semi-final clash is scheduled for April 11, but questions over CAF’s handling of the suspension have already sparked calls for review and possible legal action.
