The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially rejected Congo’s request to register clubs for the 2026/27 CAF Interclub competitions, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

CAF turned down the submission after determining that Congo’s domestic football competitions do not meet the regulatory requirements for participation in the prestigious continental tournaments.

According to CAF regulations, clubs from a member association are not eligible to compete in the CAF Champions League or CAF Confederation Cup if the country’s national league or national cup competition has not been played for more than one year.

The Congolese Football Federation had requested the registration of TAC Léopards de Dolisie for the CAF Champions League, while AS Otoho was proposed for the CAF Confederation Cup.

However, CAF confirmed that the status of Congo’s domestic competitions failed to satisfy the required conditions, leading to the rejection of the request.

The decision means Congo will not have representatives in the 2026/27 CAF Interclub competitions unless the country’s domestic football calendar is brought into compliance with CAF regulations.
