CAF Rejects Egypt's Request For More Clubs In CAF Inter-Club Competitions

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has reportedly turned down a proposal from the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) seeking to increase the number of Egyptian clubs participating in the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup from the 2026/27 season, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

According to reports, the EFA had requested that Egypt be allowed to field more teams in Africa's two premier club competitions, citing the country's strong performances and the competitiveness of its domestic league.

However, CAF has rejected the proposal, meaning Egypt will continue to have the current allocation of clubs in the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup.

The decision ensures that the existing qualification system for CAF's inter-club competitions remains unchanged ahead of the 2026/27 campaign, with member associations expected to retain their current slots based on CAF's regulations.
