CAFCC: Asante Kotoko Coach Unfazed By Injury Concerns Ahead Of Kwara United Clash
Sampson Adedeji
Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito has downplayed the impact of injuries on his team ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup encounter with Nigeria’s Kwara United, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The Porcupine Warriors will open their 2025/26 Confederation Cup campaign against the Afonja Warriors later this month.
Despite losing key players to injuries particularly in midfield Zito maintains that his side is mentally and tactically prepared.
“In terms of injury, we are still facing some problems, especially in midfield,” Zito told AKSC Media. “When you look at the squad, Ntim is unlikely to be available for the first half of the season. Baba too is not well, so at the moment we only have Antwi in the middle. Before the new ones settle in, we need to find the right balance.”
The experienced tactician explained that recent signings will be handed opportunities to fill the gaps left by the absentees.
“We are working on letting the players play together so the team can gel,” Zito added. “It will take a bit of time, but that doesn’t mean we are not ready. We are prepared for the game, and we will give everything on the pitch.”
Asante Kotoko will be aiming for a strong start as they seek to better their previous outings on the continent.
