CAFCL: Black Bulls Edge Rivers United In Maputo

Nigeria’s Rivers United began their CAF Champions League campaign on a disappointing note as they suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Black Bulls of Mozambique in the first leg of the second preliminary round, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The encounter, played on Saturday in Maputo, saw the hosts make the most of their home advantage, securing the lone goal midway through the second half after sustained pressure on the Nigerian side.
Despite creating several scoring opportunities, Rivers United failed to convert their chances, leaving them with all to play for in the return leg.
The Pride of Rivers will now look to overturn the deficit when they host the Mozambican champions in Uyo next weekend.
A win by at least two goals will see them advance to the group stage of Africa’s premier club competition.
