CAFCL: RS Berkane Coach Targets Victory In Uyo

Renaissance Sportive Berkane head coach Mouine Chaabani has expressed strong confidence ahead of his side’s trip to Nigeria for their second group stage fixture of the 2025/26 CAF Champions League against Rivers United, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Moroccan giants began their continental campaign in style with an emphatic 3-0 win over Zambian side Power Dynamos and are hoping to build on that momentum when they battle the Pride of Rivers at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Friday.

Speaking ahead of the encounter, Chaabani revealed his team’s determination to secure an important away result.

 “We will travel to Nigeria to face Rivers United to return with a positive result, and we hope that it will be an away victory,” the coach stated.

“We know it won’t be an easy match, and our goal is to reach the furthest possible point in the CAF Champions League.”

Rivers United, who suffered a disappointing 3-0 loss to defending champions Pyramids FC in their opening match in Cairo, will be desperate to respond in front of their home fans.

A victory on Friday would revive the Nigerian side’s hopes of advancing from the group.

With both sides eager to prove a point, an intense contest is expected in Uyo as the race for qualification intensifies.
