The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially closed the registration window for the first preliminary round of the 2026/27 CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The registration period, which allowed participating clubs to submit their player lists for the opening stage of the continental competitions, has now come to an end.

However, clubs exempted from the first preliminary round have no cause for concern, as they will only enter the competitions at the next stage.

Among the notable clubs that received exemptions are South Africa's Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs, Morocco's Raja Casablanca, Tunisia's ES Tunis and Tanzania's Azam FC.

These clubs will begin their respective campaigns in the next round of the 2026/27 CAF Champions League or Confederation Cup.

The exemption means the continent's top-ranked and seeded clubs will have additional time to prepare before joining the race for continental honours.
