CAFCL/CC: CAF Issues Deadline To Remo Stars, Rivers United, Others

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has set a strict deadline for all clubs qualified for the 2025/2026 Inter-club competitions to complete their registration, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Remo Stars booked their spot in the CAF Champions League after emerging champions of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).

They will be joined in the competition by Rivers United, who finished second ahead of Abia Warriors. Abia Warriors, who placed third in the NPFL, secured a Confederation Cup ticket alongside Federation Cup winners Kwara United.

The Afonja Warriors claimed the historic triumph by defeating Abakaliki FC in the final, winning the President Federation Cup for the first time in their history.

CAF announced that all qualified clubs must complete their registration for the preliminary round of the competitions on or before August 31, stressing that no extensions will be granted.

The preliminary round is scheduled for September, with registration reopening for the group stage afterwards.

While Remo Stars have consistently featured in continental football over the past three seasons without progressing beyond the preliminary stage, Rivers United have previously made it to the group phase.

Meanwhile, the draw for the preliminary round will be held on August 9 at the Azam Television studio in Tanzania.
