The President of the Confederation of African Tennis (CAT), Jean Claudio Talon, has expressed confidence and pledged full support for the newly elected President of the Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF), Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei, following his landslide victory in the October elections.
Talon noted that Ochei’s wealth of experience, leadership qualities, and administrative acumen will propel Nigerian tennis to new heights of excellence.
“Victor Ochei’s track record of effective leadership and his passion for sports development give us great confidence. Under his watch, we expect Nigerian tennis to attain enviable levels of competitiveness and productivity,” Talon said.
The CAT President also reaffirmed the continental body’s commitment to providing Nigeria with all necessary technical and developmental support to ensure the success of Ochei’s vision for the sport.
Jean Claudio Talon was among the dignitaries who attended the Night of Tribute held in honour of the late NTF President, Engr. Ifedayo Akindoju, whose passing created the vacancy now filled by Ochei.
Talon lauded Akindoju’s immense contributions to the growth of tennis in Nigeria and Africa, describing him as “a pillar of dedication and progress whose legacy will continue to inspire the tennis community.”
With Victor Ochei now at the helm, the Confederation of African Tennis says it looks forward to a stronger collaboration with Nigeria in driving the development of tennis across the continent.
