Chelle Charges Flying Eagles To Remain Focused Ahead of WAFU B U-20 Tournament

Super Eagles Head Coach Éric Chelle has challenged Nigeria's U-20 national team, the Flying Eagles, to maintain focus and discipline as they continue preparations for the WAFU B U-20 Championship scheduled to take place in Côte d'Ivoire next month, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Chelle delivered the message during a visit to the team's training camp at the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on Friday, shortly after the Flying Eagles recorded an emphatic 5-0 victory over Bussdor United in a preparatory friendly match.

Addressing the players, the Super Eagles coach emphasized the importance of commitment, concentration and obedience to coaching instructions as essential ingredients for success at the highest level.

"If you want to succeed and achieve your dreams, you must remain focused and listen attentively to your coaches," Chelle said.

"If you do these things, your chances of succeeding will be much higher, and you will give yourselves the opportunity to reach greater heights in your careers."

The visit served as a morale boost for the seven-time African champions, who are fine-tuning their preparations for the regional tournament, which will bring together some of the best youth teams in West Africa.

Flying Eagles Head Coach Abdu Maikaba expressed appreciation for Chelle's visit and words of encouragement, describing them as timely as the team enters a crucial phase of its preparations.

Maikaba reaffirmed the squad's determination to perform strongly at the tournament and represent Nigeria with distinction.

"We appreciate Coach Chelle for taking the time to visit and motivate the players," Maikaba said. "The team is fully focused on the task ahead, and we are working hard to ensure we have a successful outing in Côte d'Ivoire."

The Flying Eagles head into the competition with a rich pedigree in African youth football, having won the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations a record seven times and consistently producing players who have gone on to represent the Super Eagles at senior level.

Their convincing win over Bussdor United will provide further confidence as preparations continue ahead of the regional championship, where Nigeria will be aiming to reaffirm its status as one of the dominant forces in youth football across West Africa.
