D'Tigers, have officially released their 12-man roster for the second (or third) window of the 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup African Qualifiers, set to tip off on July 2 in Luanda, Angola, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The announcement marks a significant moment for the program, as newly appointed head coach David Fizdale will make his debut on the Nigerian bench.

The veteran NBA coach, who previously led the Memphis Grizzlies and New York Knicks, takes over with the team currently placed third in Group C behind Guinea and Tunisia.

Fizdale's arrival brings fresh optimism and high-level NBA experience to the D'Tigers as they battle to keep their qualification hopes alive for the 2027 World Cup in Qatar and, ultimately, a strong push toward the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

A major highlight of the roster is the return of several experienced players who have been away from the national team for extended periods.

Forward Chimezie Metu (formerly of the Sacramento Kings), along with guards Uche Iroegbu (also known as UC Iroegbu) and Ike Iroegbu, are back in the fold, injecting talent, depth, and familiarity into the squad.

The qualifiers in early July represent a do-or-die opportunity for Nigeria in Group C. Success in these windows is vital for advancing in the African qualification process.
