The final leg of the zonal qualifiers for the CAF African Schools Football Championship will begin on March 12 in Libreville, Gabon, with teams from the Union of Central African Football Federations (UNIFFAC) competing for places in the continental finals,BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The matches will take place at the Stade de Nzeng-Ayong, where host nation Gabon, Democratic Republic of the Congo, and São Tomé and Príncipe will face off in a round-robin tournament from March 12 to 15.
The competition marks the final stage of the UNIFFAC zonal qualifiers after a series of matches held across the region since November 2025. The winners in both the boys’ and girls’ Under-15 categories will secure qualification for next month’s continental finals.
The upcoming finals will represent the fourth edition of the CAF African Schools Football Championship, an initiative by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) aimed at promoting grassroots football while using the sport as a platform to empower young people across the continent.
Alongside the matches in Libreville, CAF will also organise a series of capacity-building programmes designed to strengthen grassroots football development in Africa.
These initiatives include coaching workshops, as well as training sessions for young reporters, medical officers, and safeguarding officers, providing participants with opportunities to develop key skills that support the growth and sustainability of the game at the grassroots level.
