DR Congo To Build Africa’s Largest Basketball Arena

The Democratic Republic of Congo has commenced construction of what is set to become Africa’s largest indoor sports facility, the Kinshasa Arena, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The project, launched by President Félix Tshisekedi, will deliver a state-of-the-art venue with a seating capacity of 20,000.

Valued at approximately $105 million, the arena is expected to be completed in the near future as part of the country’s drive to enhance its sporting and entertainment infrastructure.

Located in Kinshasa, the multi-purpose facility will host a wide range of events including basketball games, concerts, exhibitions, and other major gatherings.

Upon completion, the Kinshasa Arena will surpass some of the continent’s leading venues in size, including the 10,000-capacity BK Arena in Kigali and the 15,000-seat Dakar Arena in Dakar.

The development is seen as a significant step in positioning the DR Congo as a key destination for international sporting and entertainment events across Africa.
