Democratic Republic of Congo have unveiled its squad for the upcoming intercontinental playoff despite the pending protest lodged by Nigeria over the outcome of the last African playoff, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The head coach of the Leopards, Sébastien Desabre, announced the squad on Wednesday afternoon as preparations intensify for the decisive playoff scheduled to take place in Mexico later this month.
DR Congo secured a place in the final playoff round after edging past the Super Eagles in a dramatic penalty shootout during the African qualifying playoff.
However, the result remains under scrutiny following a protest submitted by Nigeria to FIFA. The Nigerian football authorities are seeking a review of the circumstances surrounding the match.
With the intercontinental playoff set for the end of March, it remains uncertain whether FIFA will deliver a verdict on Nigeria’s protest before the crucial fixture takes place.
Meanwhile, DR Congo has proceeded with its preparations, releasing the squad as the team aims to secure qualification for the FIFA World Cup through the final playoff stage.
