Daniel Daga jubilating after scoring for his club
Daniel Daga Nets in Back-to-Back Games As Molde Settle For Dramatic Draw
By BSN Sports
Daniel Daga's impressive resurgence continued on Sunday as the Nigerian youngster scored for the second consecutive Eliteserien match, although his effort was not enough to secure victory as Molde were held to a dramatic 3-3 draw by Sarpsborg 08 at the Aker Stadion, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The 19-year-old midfielder has quickly rediscovered his rhythm since returning to the first team, following up his match-winning goal last weekend with another influential performance to underline his growing importance to Molde.
The hosts made a bright start and took a deserved lead in the 22nd minute through Sondre Milian Granaas.
Sarpsborg responded before the interval, with Daniel Seland Karlsbakk finishing off a move created by Claus Niyukuri to level the score in the 34th minute.
The visitors completed the turnaround seven minutes into the second half when Andreas Nibe found the back of the net to put Sarpsborg 2-1 ahead.
Molde responded immediately. Eirik Hestad restored parity in the 57th minute after converting Emil Breivik's delivery, setting the stage for a thrilling finale.
Three minutes later, Breivik was again the provider as Daga rose highest to meet his cross with a powerful header, giving Molde a 3-2 lead and sending the home supporters into celebration.
The goal was Daga's second in as many league matches and further evidence of his growing confidence after returning to regular first-team action.
The Nigerian midfielder's afternoon came to an end in the 74th minute when he was replaced by Mathias Fjørtoft Løvik after another energetic display in the heart of midfield.
However, Molde's hopes of claiming all three points were dashed deep into stoppage time when goalkeeper Albert Posiadala inadvertently turned the ball into his own net, gifting Sarpsborg a dramatic late equaliser.
Although the result will disappoint Molde after surrendering a winning position, Daga's continued fine form provides a significant positive. With goals in successive league matches and increasingly assured performances in midfield, the Nigerian teenager appears to be rediscovering the form that established him as one of the country's brightest young talents.
