Sampson Adedeji
Egypt is exploring the possibility of bidding to host the 2028 Africa Cup of Nations, as the country looks to stage the continent's biggest football tournament once again, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The Egyptian Football Association is reportedly considering submitting an official bid to host the competition, although no formal application has been made at this stage.
If successful, Egypt would welcome the Africa Cup of Nations for a record-extending sixth time, having previously hosted the tournament in 1959, 1974, 1986, 2006 and 2019.
The North African nation boasts several world-class stadiums and extensive experience in organising major international football competitions, making it one of the favourites should it proceed with its bid.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is expected to announce the bidding process and timeline for the 2028 tournament in due course, with Egypt now among the countries showing interest in hosting the prestigious event.
