Nigeria’s Chukwuebuka Enekwechi boosted his preparations for next month’s World Championships in Tokyo with an impressive showing at the Gyulai Istvan Memorial in Hungary, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Competing in the men’s Shot Put, Enekwechi secured third place with a best throw of 21.15m on his second attempt, finishing behind American Joe Kovacs and New Zealand’s Tom Walsh.

Kovacs dominated the field as the only competitor to surpass the 22m mark, winning with a 22.33m effort on his third attempt. Walsh took silver with 21.52m, while Enekwechi settled for bronze.

The Nigerian star, who earlier this season set a new African record of 22.10m, will carry the nation’s Shot Put hopes to Tokyo as he aims for a podium finish at the World Championships.
