Ese Brume Leaps To Season’s Best, Wins Women’s Long Jump In USA

Nigerian long jump star Ese Brume delivered a strong performance on Saturday, jumping a new season’s best of 6.59 meters (wind-aided +1.6 m/s) to claim gold in the Women’s Long Jump at the 2026 USATF San Diego/Imperial Open and Masters Championships held at the Chula Vista Elite Athletic Training Center, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The victory marks a solid improvement for the Commonwealth champion and African record holder, who opened her 2026 outdoor season with a wind-aided 6.53 meters at the LA Grand Prix earlier this month. 

Brume’s latest effort shows encouraging signs of form as she builds toward major competitions later in the season.

Brume, a two-time World Championships medalist and Olympic finalist, finished ahead of American Nicole Warwick in second place. 

The meet served as an important early-season outing for athletes in the region, providing valuable competitive reps ahead of the summer track and field calendar.

Known for her explosive power and consistency, Brume holds the African record of 7.17 meters and has consistently ranked among the world’s elite long jumpers. 

Her performance in Chula Vista reinforces her status as a top contender heading into the rest of the 2026 campaign.
