By BSN Sports

Former Nigeria U20 and U23 midfielder Nurudeen Orelesi has begun a new chapter in his football career after being appointed head coach of the U19 team of Albanian top-flight club KF Laçi, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The appointment marks Orelesi's first major coaching role since retiring from professional football and represents another milestone for a former Nigerian international transitioning from playing to coaching in European football.

Orelesi is no stranger to Albanian football. During his playing career, the defensive midfielder established himself as a respected figure in the country's domestic league, representing several clubs and earning recognition for his composure, tactical awareness and leadership in midfield. His familiarity with Albanian football is expected to be an asset as he takes charge of KF Laçi's youth development programme.

At KF Laçi, Orelesi will oversee the development of the club's U19 players, working to prepare the next generation of talent for promotion to the senior team. Youth coaching plays a vital role in the Albanian football system, with clubs increasingly investing in the development of homegrown players.

Orelesi enjoyed a distinguished youth international career with Nigeria, representing the country at both U20 and U23 levels. He was regarded as one of the country's promising midfielders during his generation before embarking on a professional career in Europe.

His appointment has been welcomed by Nigerian football followers, who view it as another positive example of former players remaining involved in the game after retirement. The move also highlights the growing influence of Nigerian coaches and former internationals in European football, particularly in youth development.

As he begins life on the touchline, Orelesi will be aiming to nurture young talent while building a coaching career that could eventually lead to opportunities at senior club or international level.

His transition from player to coach serves as an encouraging example for retired footballers seeking to remain active in the sport and contribute to the development of future generations.
